Bluegill numbers at Beall Woods Lake are good. Bluegill size structure remains constant as most catchable fish are between 6 and 7.5 inches. Bluegill fishing is expected to be fair to good. Currently there are no size or creel limits for sunfish at Beall Woods Lake.

Anglers continue to report good catches of channel catfish. Many fish reported and collected during fishing surveys are 16 inches or better. Fishing prospects for channel catfish are expected to be good. Fishing Regulation: 6 fish daily catch limit.

Largemouth bass population indices are near recommended ranges and a good representation of size structure exists. Bass abundance is good, as measured by catch per unit of effort of electrofishing, as the average number of bass caught in recent surveys is 91 bass per hour. Many fish between 0.5 to 1.5 pounds are present with larger bass sampled and reportedly being caught by anglers. Bass fishing is expected to be good. Fishing Regulation: 15 inch minimum size limit and creel limit of 6 fish per day.

Location: Beall Woods Lake is located in Wabash County within Beall Woods State Park, near the Wabash River, five miles south of Mt. Carmel.

Description: Beall Woods Lake is a borrow lake constructed in 1972 in Beall Woods State Park. Beall Woods Lake has a surface area of 14 acres, a maximum depth of 13 feet, and an average depth of 3.5 feet. The lake has 1,500 feet of shoreline and a watershed of 150 acres. Beall Woods Lake is a small fertile lake that tends to get dense stands of submerged aquatic vegetation during warmer months.

History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Recent survey data suggests Beall Woods Lake is currently supporting a balanced fishery. Fish most commonly sought after by anglers include largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, and crappie.

Additional Lake Information: There is a boat ramp, but boats are limited to electric motors only.
