An electrofishing survey is the best way to analyze the largemouth bass population in a lake. Because electrofishing is not an option at this lake, very little is known about the largemouth population at this lake. No largemouth bass were collected in the 2015 spring trap netting survey at this lake. Site Regulation: Creel limit of 5 fish under 14" and one fish over 18"; there is a protected slot of 14-18" (no possession).

Location: Pyramid State Park is located south of Pinckneyville in Perry County. From State Route 127 head west on Pyatt-Cutler Road. About 7 miles west of Pyramid State Park turn south into the Denmark Section.

Description: Blue Wing Lake is a strip cut lake located on the Denmark Section of Pyramid State Park. Facilities at this 35-acre lake include a concrete boat launch, floating dock and bathrooms.

History and Status of the Sport Fishery: As a result of high water conductivity, electrofishing is not an effective sampling tool at this lake. All information is based on spring trap netting surveys.

Additional Lake Information: Blue Wing Lake has a 10 HP motor limit. 2 pole and line fishing only. From November 1 through February 28 fishing is allowed in designated areas only, and fishing hours are from ½ hour before sunrise to 2 PM.
