Description
Mallard Lake is an 85-acre man-made lake with a maximum depth of 25 feet. It is owned by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. The lake is managed under a Cooperative Management Agreement with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. There is an island with bridges connecting two sides of the lake. There are two handicapped accessible fishing piers and several access paths. Carry-in boats under 20 feet are allowed (no boat ramp is available). Gasoline powered motors are prohibited. A smaller 9-acre pond (Cloverdale Pond) is also accessible at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve.Fishery History
Mallard Lake offers quality fishing opportunities for Largemouth Bass, Walleye, and Muskie! A variety of forage species are present, including Yellow Perch, Gizzard Shad, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Green Sunfish, White Sucker, Golden Shiner, and Bluntnose Minnow. Muskie are stocked at a rate of 1 fish per acre, every other year. This fish community is surveyed every 4 years while trap-net surveys targeting Muskie take place each spring.Site Regulations

- All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing
- Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 25 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Channel Catfish: 12 inch Minimum Length Limit; 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Largemouth Bass: Protected Slot Length Limit with no possession of fish greater than or equal to 14 inches and less than 18 inches; 4 Fish Daily Harvest Limit with no more than 1 fish greater than or equal to 18 inches and 3 fish less than 14 inches
- Northern Pike: 24 inch Minimum Length Limit; 3 Fish Daily Harvest Limit (statewide regulation)
- White, Black or Hybrid Crappie: 15 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Yellow Perch: 9 inch Minimum Length Limit; 5 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
