The 2024 Largemouth Bass sample was poor. Only 3 fish were collected in 15 minutes of electrofishing. Fish ranged from 7.0-9.8”.
Redear Sunfish
Good
Redear Sunfish are doing well in this pond. 2024 sampling resulted in 8 (32/hour) Redear Sunfish ranging from 5.9-8.8”. In 2024, 62.5% of Redear Sunfish measured over 8”.
Channel Catfish
Good
Two Channel Catfish were collected in 2024. Fish measured 19.4” and 19.8” and weighed up to 3.7lbs. Channel Catfish were last stocked in this pond in September 2025. IDNR will stock Channel Catfish as hatchery production allows.
Bluegill
Good
In 2024, 16 Bluegill were collected, ranging from 3.1-7.8”. The catch rate of 64 fish/hour is less than previous surveys and less than the management goal of 80-100 fish/hour.

Description
Siloam Springs State Park Buckhorn Unit was acquired by the State of Illinois in the Spring of 2001. There are two ponds on this site that are managed for sport fishing. Pond #2 is the smaller of the two ponds.Fishery History
Species in the pond include Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, and Channel Catfish.Site Regulations
Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:
- All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing
- Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 8 inch Minimum Length Limit; 10 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Largemouth Bass: 18 inch Minimum Length Limit; 1 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
