Mirror Lake is located just south of Sheffield or 3 miles west of Buda, within the Mautino State Fish and Wildlife Area.

Description

Mirror Lake was created by strip-mining in the 1950s. The lake did not open to the public until 1994 because of lack of roads and restroom facilities. The lake has 5.1 surface acres of water. Mirror Lake is very clear, dusk and dawn are prime fishing times. A single gravel lane boat ramp with car/trailer parking is available.

Site Regulations

Only electric trolling motors are allowed on Mirror Lake.

Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:

  • All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing; sport fisherman may harvest carp, buffalo, suckers and gar by bow and arrow or bow and arrow devices, gigs or spears from May 1 through August 31
  • Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 10 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Large or Smallmouth Bass: 14 inch Minimum Length Limit; 1 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Walleye, Sauger, or Hybrid Walleye: 14 inch Minimum Length Limit; 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit (statewide regulation)
