Description

The site contains three lakes totaling 170 acres: East Lake, 134 acres; Derby Lake, 21 acres; and RV Lake, 15 acres. Derby and East lakes have concrete boat ramps and ample parking, while RV Lake has no boat ramp, but plenty of shoreline access for anglers. There is a 10 hp boat motor limit for the largest lake (East Lake) while the other lakes are trolling motors only.

Fishery History

The IDNR Division of Fisheries has been active in the management of the shooting complex lakes since they opened to public fishing in 2008. Rainbow Trout are stocked in the spring and fall at Derby Lake. East and Derby lakes contain a diverse fishery comprised of over 20 species of fish, while RV Lake contains primarily sport fishes.

Site Regulations

There is a 10 horsepower boat motor limit at East Lake, while the other lakes have trolling motor only regulations. Swimming, wading, and waterskiing are prohibited.

Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:

  • All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing: bow fishing is allowed
  • Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 15 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Large or Smallmouth Bass: 18 inch Minimum Length Limit; 1 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Trout: Fall Closed Season; Spring Closed Season; 5 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • White, Black, or Hybrid Crappie: 10 inch Minimum Length Limit; 10 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
