Fishing Outlook
Largemouth Bass
Good
Largemouth Bass numbers have decreased in this survey, but are still very good. The size distribution looks good, with fish in all size classes present. This lake continues to support a quality, self-sustaining bass population. Reproduction and recruitment seem to be very consistent. The lake has a forage base of small sunfish, gizzard shad, and golden shiners that supports the high numbers and quality of bass.
Bluegill
Poor
The Bluegill population has good numbers, but mostly smaller fish. Bluegill numbers are down from the previous survey. The size quality is poor with no fish over 7 inches. The Bluegill population in this lake has been poor for many years. Perhaps this is due to a genetic predisposition to spawn at smaller sizes or that the bass are primary foraging on the gizzard shad in the lake.
Channel Catfish
Good
This lake supports a good Channel Catfish population and gets a lot of angling pressure for catfish. Only one Channel Catfish was collected in this survey. It was over 5 pounds and in good condition. This lake gets supplemental Channel Catfish stocking from the Urban Fishing Program.
