Description

King Park Pond, known locally as King Park Lagoon, is a ½-acre pond located at King Park on the north side of Pittsfield, Illinois. This urban pond is in a park setting with picnic areas, a community pool, and playgrounds nearby.

Fishery History

The pond was dredged in late winter 2024 to clean out sediment that has accumulated over the years. The previous maximum water depth was 4-5 feet, while the average depth was 2-3 feet. Dredging reclaimed the original depth in the pond (8 feet), providing a more suitable environment for fish. Fish species re-stocked include Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Rainbow Trout. Anglers are asked to please resist the temptation to stock other species.

Site Regulations

Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:

  • All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing
  • Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Trout: Spring Closed Season; 5 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
