11 Channel Catfish were collected in 2024 fall electrofishing survey, ranging from 10.7 – 16.1”. Channel Catfish were stocked by the State Hatchery on 9/10/2024.
Flathead Catfish
Developing
7 Flathead Catfish ranging from 10.3 – 30.9” were sampled during the spring low-pulse electrofishing catfish survey. The heaviest fish weighed 18.3lbs. Flathead Catfish body condition is excellent. Flathead Catfish are given a Floy-Tag and PIT-Tag to track recapture, growth, and harvest. Anglers are asked to report tagged fish to the phone number listed on the tag. Information such as date of catch, species, length and weight of the fish, and whether the fish was harvested will be requested.
Largemouth Bass
Excellent

Crappie spp.
Poor
23 White Crappie were collected in 2024, measuring 4.8 – 12.8”. 24 Black Crappie were collected in 2024, ranging from 5.6 – 8.0”. Of the catchable sized fish, 8.3% of the Black Crappie and 4.5% of the White Crappie measured 8” or greater.
Bluegill
Poor
This population is poor. The relative weights are excellent, but no fish were collected over 7”. The largest Bluegill sampled in 2024 measured 6.7”. In lakes where Gizzard Shad are present Bluegill tend to exhibit slow growth due to competition for food resources.

Description
The Division of Fisheries entered into a formal Cooperative Management Agreement with the City of Waverly in 1984. The lake is 119 acres and is mostly surrounded by hardwood timber, offering an abundance of submerged snags and stumps for fish habitat. The lake has one boat ramp on the south side of the lake on Waverly Lake Road.Fishery History
Other species and hybrid groups present in this lake include Black Bullhead, Blue Catfish, Brown Bullhead, Bluegill x Green Sunfish Hybrid, Common Carp, Freshwater Drum, Gizzard Shad, Green Sunfish, Hybrid Sunfish, Redear Sunfish, Walleye, Warmouth, Yellow Bullhead, and Yellow Bass.Site Regulations
There is no motor horsepower limit at Waverly Lake, however all boats must be operated at no-wake speed. All boats require a boat permit that may be purchased at the Waverly City Hall or the City of Waverly Water Plant.
Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:
- All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing; bow fishing is allowed
- Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
- Large or Smallmouth Bass: 15 inch Minimum Length Limit; 3 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
