Fishing Outlook
Crappie spp.
Poor
In 2024, no Black or White Crappie were sampled. No harvest or length limit is necessary currently for the crappie population. IDNR District Fisheries Biologist stocked 800 Hybrid Crappie (F1 Blacknose male x White crappie female) averaging 4 inches long on 10/31/2024 from the Banner Marsh Rearing Ponds.
Largemouth Bass
Good
The Largemouth Bass population was evaluated by sampling 47 stock size bass with electrofishing gear. The Largemouth Bass population appears to be defined by a high-density of fish from 5 to 15 inches in length. The submerged aquatic vegetation level was approximately 1%. The submerged vegetation control will continue to be needed to manage this water supply reservoir for water quality and for fish management. The current bass regulation should remain in place for 2025. And the harvest of bass under 12 inches is encouraged to help thin this part of the population.
Bluegill
Average
The Bluegill population was sampled by capturing 37 fish in the fall electrofishing survey. The current Bluegill population is rated as average with a few fish sampled up to 7.5 inches in length. The population appeared to be improving in 2020 with 48% of the sample over 7 inches in length, but it has declined since then. This population is of high density and in average body condition with a Wr average of 89.
