Description

There are two ponds at Mackinaw Fish and Wildlife Area. One pond is 1.5 acres and the another is 1.0 acre. Maximum depth of these ponds is 12.5 feet. Both have limited access to bank fisherman due to willow growth along the banks.

Fishery History

The current fish population is out of balance with the bass predator density very low. A low oxygen event (winter kill or summer algal crash) has probably occurred in the recent past which eliminated most of the bass population.

Site Regulations

Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:

  • Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 5 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Large or Smallmouth Bass: 15 inch Minimum Length Limit; 1 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
