Fishing Outlook
Bluegill
Fair
The majority of bluegill observed during fisheries surveys are less than 7 inches. There are no size or harvest limits for sunfish.
Largemouth Bass
Fair
Largemouth Bass were collected at a rate of 152 bass/hr in the 2025 annual survey. Only 9% of the bass collected were over 14 inches in length. No bass over 18 inches were collected. Anglers are encouraged to harvest bass below 14 inches to improve bass growth rates and body condition. If the number of smaller bass (<14 inches) is reduced, more bass will grow into the protected 14-18 inch slot length limit. This would result in greater numbers of bass over 14 inches being present in Jones Lake.
Black Crappie
Fair
Although present in the lake, no black crappie were collected in the 2025 survey. There are no size or creel limits for crappie.
Redear Sunfish
