Fishing Outlook
Bluegill
Average
71 Bluegill were collected during the last electrofishing survey. Bluegill ranged from 1-7”. Bluegill are being preyed on by the dense Largemouth Bass population. Given the high density of Largemouth Bass in this lake, we’d expect to see larger Bluegill (8-9”), but the presence of Gizzard Shad creates competition for food between the Bluegill and Gizzard Shad.
Largemouth Bass
Good
During the most recent survey, 71 Largemouth Bass were sampled in 30 minutes of electrofishing, which exceeds the goal of at least 1 Largemouth Bass/minute using electrofishing equipment. Fish collected ranged from 2-14”. There was a strong year class of fish measuring 2-4” and another group in the 10-14” range. Largemouth Bass growth rates appeared to be average.
Black Crappie
Average
One Black Crappie was collected and it measured 8”. Crappie populations are often times underrepresented when using electrofishing during summer months. The crappie fishery may be at a much higher density than shown in this survey.
Channel Catfish
Developing
No Channel Catfish were collected during the most recent electrofishing survey. Channel Catfish were stocked by the State Hatchery in 2025 and will continue to be stocked in future years, as hatchery production allows.
