Description

Mauvaise Terre Lake is a turbid lake with a maximum depth of 11 feet located near the dam. It has a gravel boat ramp on the west shoreline and has good shoreline fishing access on the southwest and south shorelines. Below is an update on the fish community in Mauvaise Terre Lake.

Fishery History

Other species present in this lake include Bigmouth Buffalo, Black Bullhead, Brown Bullhead, Common Carp, Freshwater Drum, Golden Shiner, Green Sunfish, Gizzard Shad, Rainbow Trout, Redear Sunfish, Yellow Bullhead, and Yellow Bass.

Site Regulations

Must possess a valid Jacksonville Lakes Permit, which is available at Lake Jacksonville boat dock. There is 25 horsepower motor limit or boats with motors exceeding 25 horsepower must operate at idle speed only.

 

Site-Specific Fishing Regulations:

  • All Fish: 2 pole and line fishing only and each pole must not have more than 2 hooks or lures attached while fishing
  • Channel Catfish: 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Large or Smallmouth Bass: 15 inch Minimum Length Limit; 3 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
  • Trout:  Fall Closed Season; Spring Closed Season; 5 Fish Daily Harvest Limit; Early season catch-and-release fishing is permitted
