Fishing Outlook
Channel Catfish
Improving
Channel Catfish were not sampled in 2018 but are stocked regularly in Foxcroft Lake Three large Channel Catfish were captured in this survey. Fishing for Channel Catfish should be better in the future as 1,700 four and a half inch Channel Catfish were stocked in 2012 and 2014.
Largemouth Bass
Good
Largemouth Bass – Catch rates for Largemouth Bass were down from the 2014 survey, but were right at the management target for area lakes and ponds. Size structure was better in the most recent survey, with 35% of the stock measuring more than 12 inches. The bass ranged in length from 5.0 to 16.8 inches with the average bass measuring 11.2 inches. Bass over 18 inches have been sampled in previous surveys of this Lake. Abundant forage species (gizzard shad, bluegill and golden shiner) keep the bass in this lake fat and healthy.
Bluegill
Excellent
Bluegill catch rates were high at over 200 fish per hour. We like to see catch Bluegill catch rates around 120 fish per hour. No Bluegill over six inches were sampled and the average Bluegill measured 4.9 inches.
Common Carp
Excellent
Common Carp have been very abundant in this lake during previous surveys and unlimited harvest is encouraged for this detrimental species.

Description
Foxcroft Lake is an 8.1-acre dug retention pond with a maximum depth of 4.6 feet. The lake is owned and maintained by the Fox Valley Park District (FVPD) as a community park in a residential setting. Flow through from adjacent storm sewers help keep this shallow lake from having serious winter kills. The shoreline is mowed in several areas to allow access for shore fishing. A playground and basketball courts are located at the adjacent park.Fishery History
The FVPD has entered into a Cooperative Management Agreement with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to facilitate fisheries management activities. A newly started Channel Catfish program (1,700 4-inch catfish every other year) should offer great fishing for this species in the future. Abundant Largemouth Bass and Bluegill should offer anglers plenty of action in this suburban park. Excellent access makes Foxcroft Lake a family friendly fishing location. Black Crappie, Bluntnose Minnow, Common Carp, Gizzard Shad, Golden Shiner, Green Sunfish and Yellow Bullheads have been captured in previous surveys.Site Regulations
