Fishery History

The 2017 fish population survey shows no dramatic changes in the Largemouth Bass population, which is dominated by high numbers of smaller fish. The high bass numbers are resulting in quality Bluegill and Redear Sunfish populations. The numbers of Bluegill and Redear Sunfish have both decreased from previous surveys. The size quality of the Bluegill and Redear Sunfish is very good. Channel Catfish provide an additional angling opportunity. This lake has had problems with excessive aquatic plant growth in recent years and some improved management plans for this problem may benefit the fishery in coming years. This lake also has some interesting "bonus" fish. Large Flathead Catfish and Common Carp have been collected in recent surveys. Current conditions should provide good fishing opportunities for smaller Largemouth Bass, quality Bluegill/Redear Sunfish, trophy Common Carp, and perhaps a large Flathead Catfish. Surveys will continue every other year.
